We offer packages ranging from 6 nights to 5 weeks.

Below you will find examples of the 6 night/7 day Classic Package and
Walking Safari Package offered by Makutsi Safari Springs.

These are only two examples of several different packages offered by Makutsi. For example, inclusions in the Australian Package might differ to the inclusions in the European Package, as client needs might differ in the respective countries. Once you have booked one of our packages, additional nights can be booked at a reduced price, and there are several additional tours that can be booked or requested.

DAY 1 : Airport - Makutsi Safari Springs

The representative from Makutsi Safari Springs meets you at either Hoedspruit or Phalaborwa Airport for the 1-hour transfer to the lodge. Enjoy an afternoon of relaxing and getting to know the camp and the mineral springs. Dinner is served in the traditional open air “Lapa”.

DAY 2 : Makutsi Safari Springs - Game Drives

Before breakfast our ranger will take you for a 3-hour morning game drive in an open Land Rover. Most of the African wildlife can be encountered here, including elephant, rhino, zebra, lion, giraffe, crocodile, hippo, leopard...the list goes on.
After breakfast you deserve a rest and time to enjoy the Makutsi Springs. Early afternoon, depart for another 3-hour game drive before returning just in time for a sundowner at the Makutsi Lapa after which dinner is served.

DAY 3 : Kruger National Park

Depart at 5am for a full day’s game viewing in the world famous Kruger National Park. Roughly a 1-hour drive in a closed minivan to the entrance of the Kruger. The early hours of the day are used for finding as much game as possible. Your guide will have taken a picnic style breakfast along, and a stop is made at one of the many rest areas. After breakfast, off on more game exploration until lunchtime (at own expense), when you stop at one of the camps inside the Kruger National Park. After lunch, off again for more exciting game viewing. Return to Makutsi around 4-5pm. Dinner served on Makutsi in traditional “Lapa”.

DAY 4 : Drakensberg Mountains and Blyde River Canyon

After breakfast depart at 9am for a day of sightseeing of the breathtaking Drakensberg Mountains and Blyde River Canyon. Several stops are made along the way, including the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels Viewpoint overlooking the Blyde Dam. Changes to the itinerary can be made subject to weather conditions. A lunch stop will be made (at own expense) before returning to Makutsi around 4-5pm. This day offers opportunities to purchase locally made crafts and curios. Dinner served at Makutsi.

DAY 5 : Sekororo Tribal Village

After breakfast depart between 9 and 10am to visit nearby Sotho villages, learn about traditional culture, and the way life has been sustained for ages. This day gives you a good idea of what a local tribal village looks like today. The word that best describe this day is "authentic", nothing is set up for tourists, this is real life. Somewhere along the way a light picnic will be served. Return to Makutsi early afternoon to enjoy the Makutsi Springs before Dinner.

DAY 6 : Makutsi Safari Springs - Game Drive

Enjoy your third game drive in an open Land Rover on the Makutsi Game Reserve, either early morning or afternoon drive. For the remainder of the day, enjoy relaxing in the pools, reading on your terrace, visiting the Hippo Hide...

DAY 7 : Makutsi Safari Springs - Airport

After breakfast you depart Makutsi for your transfer to the Airport.

DAY 1 : Hoedspruit / Phalaborwa Airport to Makutsi Main Camp

On arrival at Hoedspruit/Phalaborwa Airport, you are met and transferred to Makutsi Safari Springs Main Camp. After a short briefing, you might still have time to enjoy the pool or visit the Hippo Hide. Dinner at Main Camp is served in a traditional open "Lapa".

DAY 2 : Makutsi Main Camp - Simba Safari

Leasurly breakfast at Main Camp. Early afternoon depart for a 5-hour game drive. Most of the African wildlife can be encountered here, including giraffe, rhino, zebra, lion, elephant, kudu, hippo, leopard...the list goes on. Around sunset, light snacks and drinks will be enjoyed during a short break. After snacks, continue your safari in search of the various nocturnal animals. Take a jacket along as it can get chilly once the sun disappears. Return to Main Camp around 8pm when dinner will be served.

DAY 3 : Rhino Safari - Makutsi Tented Camp Sleep Out

Enjoy a 3-hour game drive in the early morning. Return to Main Camp for breakfast. Depart Main Camp early afternoon on a short game drive that will take you to Makutsi Tented Camp. After settling in, it's time for your first short walking safari before returning to Tented Camp for sunset. Dinner served at Makutsi Tented Camp.

DAY 4 : Makutsi Tented Camp Sleep Out - Walking Safaris

Early morning depart Tented Camp for a 3-4 hour walking safari. Return to camp for breakfast and spend the day relaxing in camp around the pool or on your private deck overlooking the water hole, enjoying the peace and quiet of the bush. After a late lunch, depart for another 3-4 hour walking safari, and return to camp in time for sunset. Dinner served at Makutsi Tented Camp.

DAY 5 : Makutsi Tented Camp Sleep Out - Makutsi Main Camp

Depart early morning for a short walking safari, and return to camp for breakfast. Check out of Tented Camp late morning for a short game drive on the way back to Main Camp. Spend the afternoon relaxing around the mineral pools or reading a book on your private terrace. Dinner served at Makutsi Main Camp.

DAY 6 : Makutsi Main Camp - Blyde River Canyon
